DESKEY BANGLE
Inspired by a Three Panel Screen (1927-31) in the collection of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts
The screen combines oil on canvas, metal leaf and wood. It was designed by Donald Deskey (American, 1894-1989) who was the interior designer of Radio City Music Hall in New York City. He was a leading exponent of American Art Deco, a decorative design movement from the early 20th century. Art Deco is characterized by using combinations of materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, lacquer, Bakelite, and inlaid wood. The use of stepped forms, chevron patterns, and ziggurat-shapes are typical of Art Deco.
Materials: brass with gold finish and epoxy.
Inner diameter: 2.5"
